When to use it

Use Product markup on a page that sells one product. For category or listing pages, mark up each product on its own page instead.

What the markup needs

name is required.
Google asks for at least one of offers, review or aggregateRating before it will show a product rich result.
An Offer needs a price and a currency. Without a price, this generator leaves the offer out rather than emit an invalid one.
availability uses a schema.org value such as InStock, OutOfStock or PreOrder.

Mistakes to avoid

Showing a price in the markup that differs from the page.
Adding ratings that are not real customer reviews shown on the page.
Leaving out the currency.

Frequently asked questions

Does Shopify add product schema for me?

Most Shopify themes output basic Product markup. Check a product page in the Rich Results Test before adding more, because two competing Product blocks cause conflicts.

Can I add review stars with this?

Only if the page shows genuine customer reviews. This generator does not create rating markup, because ratings must come from your real review data.

What about product variants?

Google supports ProductGroup with hasVariant for variants. For a simple product, a single Product with one Offer is enough.
